§ 97-1 Definitions.
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:

KENNEL
Any establishment wherein or whereon the business of boarding or selling dogs or breeding dogs for sale is carried on, or any premises where more than three dogs are kept, harbored or maintained, except a pet shop.
§ 97-2 Licenses required.
Licenses shall be required for all dogs of licensing age, including:
A. Any dog acquired by any person during the course of any calendar year and kept within the Township for more than 10 days after acquisition.
B. Any unlicensed dog brought into the Township by any person and kept within the Township for more than 10 days.
C. Any dog licensed by another state brought into the Township by any person and kept within the Township for more than 90 days.
The annual dog license fees shall be as follows:
A. A dog license issued between January 1 and March 31 shall be:
(1) For each spayed or neutered dog with proof, in writing, provided by a veterinarian doctor’s certificate or, if such certificate is unobtainable, a sworn affidavit by the applicant for the license: $7.80.
(2) For each dog which is not spayed or neutered: $10.80.
Article II Pet Shop, Kennels, Shelters and Pounds
§ 97-9 License required.
Any person who keeps or operates or proposes to establish a kennel or pet shop, shall apply to the Licensing Office for a license entitling him or her to keep or operate such establishment. Any person holding such license shall not be required to secure individual licenses for dogs owned by such licensee and kept at such establishments; such licenses shall not be transferable to another owner or different premises.
§ 97-10 Application information.
A. The application shall contain the following information:
(1) The name and permanent and local address of the applicant.
(2) The street address where the establishment is located, or proposed to be located, together with a general description of the premises.
(3) The purposes for which it is to be maintained.
B. Each application shall be accompanied by the written approval of the Health Officer of the Atlantic County Board of Health that the establishment or proposed establishment complies with local and state rules governing the location of and sanitation at such establishment.
§ 97-11 License term.
All licenses issued for a kennel or pet shop shall state the purpose for which the establishment is maintained, and all such licenses shall expire on May 31 of each year.
§ 97-12 License fees.
The annual license fees for kennel and pet shop licenses shall be as follows:
A. Kennel accommodating 10 or less dogs: $10.
B. Kennel accommodating more than 10 dogs: $25.
