Moove Over, Dairy! Kids at Centennial Day Street Fair to Scream for PETA’s Free Vegan Ice Cream

Time to churn up the volume! Ice cream-craving kiddos will be raising a ruckus at the Centennial Day Street Fair on Saturday as they scream for free vegan ice cream, courtesy of PETA’s iconic “iScream” truck. The fun, family-friendly event will feature scream challenges, a prize wheel, and creamy vegan delights for all to enjoy.
This summer, PETA’s treat-filled truck will be making stops across the country, doling out dairy-free delights and urging ice cream shops and festivals to offer options that are as delicious as they are kind to cows. Given children’s natural empathy for animals, and because many are lactose intolerant, shops that are already serving vegan ice cream are scooping up the rewards.
“The only thing sweeter than PETA’s vegan ice cream is knowing that no animals were harmed in the making of it,” says PETA President Tracy Reiman. “PETA invites everyone to visit our iScream truck and get loud for delectable dairy-free desserts that let cows and their calves live in peace.

Why: Cows have friends and mourn when a loved one dies or when they’re separated from each other, yet in the dairy industry, female cows are forcibly impregnated and have their beloved calves stolen from them so the milk meant to nourish their babies can be sold to humans. Newborn males are slaughtered for veal, while female calves endure the same fate as their mothers until their bodies wear out and they’re sent to slaughter.
