Sec. 7-10. – Impoundment.

(a) Dogs found running at large may be seized and impounded by any police, public works or humane officer. Impoundment may be in any animal shelter designated by the board of trustees.

(c) If an animal is not redeemed by the owner within five (5) days after impoundment, the animal may be disposed of in one (1) of the following ways, but no other way:

(2) Release for adoption by a new owner who shows evidence of ability and intention to provide the animal with an appropriate home and humane care; provided that no unsprayed female dog shall be released for adoption unless a licensed veterinarian certifies in writing that he has been paid in full for spaying of the dog and will perform the operation within thirty (30) days or before the dog’s first oestral period.

Sec. 7-52. – Required; exceptions.

(a) No person shall keep or harbor, whether owned or not, within the village any male or female dog without first having obtained a license therefore, and paid a fee thereon as required by this division.

(b) The licensing provisions of this division shall not apply to nonresidents of the village unless they keep a dog within the village for more than thirty (30) days.

Sec. 7-55. – Fee.

The yearly license fee shall be five dollars ($5.00) for any dog that has been spayed or neutered and ten dollars ($10.00) for any dog that has not been spayed or neutered.
