Sec. 6-11. – Pet overpopulation control.
(b) Sterilization required.
(1) All animals sold and/or adopted from animal control shall be sterilized by a licensed veterinarian except as otherwise provided by this chapter. Procedure shall consist of written agreement as provided in R.S. 3:2472.
(2) Confirmation of sterilization of released, sold or adopted animals shall be made to animal control within the prescribed time or the animal may be seized from the owner at no cost to the city.
(3) Animal control may, at its option, have an animal sterilized by a licensed veterinarian before relinquishing custody of the animal to an adopter. Animal control may, in this instance, charge sterilization fees as set forth in the following subsection if the animal is sterilized prior to relinquishing custody.
(c) Fees.
(1) An adoption fee for animals will be established by the mayor of the City of Pineville, from time to time, and assessed to the Adopter.
(2) Fees for sterilization, rabies shot and fecal screening will be established by the mayor of the City of Pineville, from time to time, and added to the adoption fee as necessary. The City of Pineville only pays the set amounts, as established by the mayor, for the preceding veterinarian services. Anything over the established amount, as performed by a state-licensed veterinarian, is the responsibility of the adopter.
(3) A boarding fee will be established by the mayor of the City of Pineville, from time to time, and assessed to pet owners, if an animal is picked up by animal control.
(4) Animal control offers the opportunity for cats and dogs to be microchipped by any pet owner. A fee for this service will be established by the mayor of the City of Pineville, from time to time, and assessed to the pet owner.
