6.08.020 – Registration—Required— Procedure.

No person shall keep a dog in the city after such dog has reached the age of six months unless that person complies with the following regulations: The owner, keeper, or harborer of any dog shall cause his or her name, with the name and description of the dog, to be registered with the City of Fort Scott, proof of rabies vaccination, and shall pay each year to the city, before any dog is registered a registration fee of three dollars per dog that is spayed/neutered or five dollars per dog that is not spayed/neutered. They shall keep upon the neck of each dog the metallic tag that is furnished by the city with the number and year of registry to be distinctly marked thereon. The city shall keep a listing of the registry of dogs when registration is made.
