§ 91.07 DOG/CAT LICENSE REQUIRED.

The owner of a dog or cat that is kept in the town, which is more than five months of age on January 1 of any year or five months of age within the license year, shall annually, on or before the date the dog or becomes five months of age, pay the dog or cat license tax and obtain a license. The dog or cat license tax is $3 for a neutered male dog or cat or spayed female dog or cat, upon presentation of evidence that the dog or cat is neutered or spayed, and $8 for an unneutered male dog or cat or unsprayed female dog or cat. The license year commences on January 1 and ends on the following December 31. The town Clerk-Treasurer shall assess and collect a late fee of $5 from any owner of a dog or cat five months of age or over if the owner failed to obtain a license prior to April 1 of each year or within 30 days of acquiring ownership of licensable dog or cat. Before obtaining a dog or cat license, an applicant for a license must have the dog or cat vaccinated for rabies. The proof of vaccination shall be in the form of showing the owner’s name and address, a description of the dog or cat, date of vaccination, rabies vaccination tag number, and required vaccination date. The veterinarian shall issue a tag to the owner of the dog or cat.
