55.16   LICENSE, FEE, TAG.

Every owner of a dog or cat over the age of six months shall procure a pet license from the City Clerk on or before the first day of January of each year. Such license fee shall be due and payable between September 1 and January 1 of the following year. Licenses become delinquent January 1 of each year and the delinquent license fee shall be the regular fee plus $5.00, except in those cases where by reason of residence or age the dog or cat was not subject to licensing during the September 1 to January 1 period. The annual license fee shall be $30.00 for each dog or cat not spayed or neutered and $10.00 for each dog or cat that is spayed or neutered. Upon payment of the license fee, the City Clerk shall issue to the owner a license, which shall contain the name of the owner, his place of residence and a description of the dog. The City Clerk shall keep a duplicate of each license issued as a public record. Upon issuance of the license, the City Clerk shall deliver to the owner a metal tag stamped with the number of the license and the year for which it is issued. The license tag shall be worn by the dog for which the license is issued.
