Sec. 10-5. – Redemption of impounded dogs.

Violations of this section shall be assessed as stated in section 18-1 of this Code. All subsequent violations are assessed only for the same animal previously cited. In addition to the fines stated in section 18-1 of this Code there shall be assessed an additional $25.00 public safety fine as required by state statute 510 ILCS 5/10 with $25.00 to be paid into the pet population control fund. The fine shall be waived if it is the dog or cat’s first impoundment and the owner has the animal spayed or neutered within 14 days and after paying for registration and microchipping if not already done.
