Sec. 18-106. – License required.
It shall be unlawful for any person to be the owner of a dog or cat within the village unless he shall procure a license therefor; all such licenses issued under this division shall expire on June 30. Licenses for a new calendar year shall be obtained on or before July 1 of that year. Every owner, possessor or person harboring or keeping a dog or cat within the village shall pay an annual license fee in such amount as provided in appendix B, Schedule of Fees, of this Code, as revised from time to time, for each dog or cat, and at the same time shall present a statement in writing signed by a licensed veterinarian to the effect that such dog or cat has been duly inoculated or vaccinated within the last year prior to the date of application for a license, and shall receive from the village clerk a metal tag bearing the legend, “Dog/Cat Tax, Village of Glenwood, Illinois,” as well as the license number and the year issued marked thereon. Any owner of a licensed dog or cat whose license tag has been lost may obtain a replacement tag by payment to the village clerk of such amount as provided in appendix B, Schedule of Fees, of this Code, as revised from time to time. Provided, however, the annual license fee shall be reduced to such amount as provided in appendix B, Schedule of Fees, of this Code, as revised from time to time, if said dog or cat has been spayed or neutered and a receipt from a licensed veterinarian evidencing the spaying or neutering is presented when applying for said license.
