6-4A-9-2: REDEMPTION AND DISPOSITION OF IMPOUNDED ANIMALS:

B.   No animal may be redeemed from impoundment unless its owner first pays general impoundment fees, provides proof of having paid the rabies vaccination fee, and any other costs for spaying or neutering, veterinary or other care. The animal may be released to the owner to obtain rabies vaccination or neutering, however, the owner must provide the police department with proof of vaccination or neutering within seven (7) days after the animal is released to the owner.

E.   If the dog released to the owner according to subsection B of this section has not been inoculated for rabies or neutered after the seven (7) day requirement has expired, the owner shall be guilty of a violation of subsection B of this section and the animal control officer may issue a citation for every day that the dog is out of compliance.
