For the first time ever, PETA is AHHH-fficially launching a vegan “i Scream” truck. That’s right—customers will literally scream for vegan ice cream. On board the pink mobile, PETA supporters will serve delicious vegan treats and encourage attendees to make some noise for cows who suffer in the dairy industry. Get all the scoop on PETA’s new “i Scream” truck and find out how you can lose cone-trol.

Where Is the ‘I Scream’ Truck Going?

The iScream truck kicked off its national tour with back-to-school events across Baltimore and Philadelphia, before melting hearts across the country at school events and kid-friendly venues. PETA’s mobile parlor also melts its competition by taking the giveaway to city centers and restaurant districts, offering customers vegan treats instead, where lines have wrapped around the block.

PETA’s iScream truck is crossing the US with a mission: to expose the cruel separation of mother cows from their beloved calves while satisfying sweet tooths by giving away thousands of decadent dairy-free delights (chocolate fudge pops, fudge and vanilla squares, Neapolitan bars, and orange cream pops from our friends at Goodpop.

Cows Suffer When Used by the Dairy Industry

When they’re still babies, workers burn cows born into the meat and dairy industries with hot irons, gouge, cut, or burn off their horns, and rip testicles out of male calves’ scrotums.

Three newborn calves huddle together under a red heat lamp

Workers on dairy farms repeatedly artificially impregnate cows and then take the newborn calf so that their milk can be sold to humans. Like most animals, mother cows and calves have a strong bond. Some mother cows call for their calves for days after workers traumatically separate them.

The babies are either raised to become veal or exploited for their reproductive parts, like their mothers. When the mother cow’s body gives out, they are killed, too.

Will You Scream for Vegan Ice Cream?

PETA’s i Scream truck will make stops around the country, but if it isn’t coming to a city near you, don’t fret! It’s never been easier to opt for delicious desserts that let calves stay with their mothers. Dairy-free ice creams are widely available today—including decadent vegan flavors from Oatly, Breyer’s, Ben & Jerry’s, and more.
