Sec. 14-37. – Backyard breeding.

In accordance with Georgia Department of Agriculture Rule 40-13-13-.07, no person shall be permitted to breed more than one litter in a 12-month period without proper licensing through the Georgia Department of Agriculture. Any person who applies for such licensing with the State of Georgia must also register as a small business with Barrow County.

Sec. 14-93. – Adoption generally.

(d) Proper care and spaying/neutering required. All persons adopting animals shall provide proper and humane care, feeding, sheltering and protection from the weather and veterinary treatment as required. All persons adopting a fertile dog, cat or ferret shall cause the female to be spayed or the male to be neutered within 45 days from the date of adoption or by the maximum age of six months, or as otherwise considered to be in the best interests of the animal by a licensed veterinarian.
