Campaign Updates: Animals Force-Fed Feces by Oreo Maker
Mondelēz International, the maker of Oreo cookies, has funded gruesome tests on animals in which mice were force-fed human feces and killed. These experiments have no relevance to human health. PETA is calling for an immediate end to this sickening use of animals—and you can help.
PETA-Backed Resolution Demands Transparency from Animal-Killing Oreo-Maker
November 20, 2025
An investor submitted a PETA-backed shareholder resolution asking Mondelēz International to disclose the number and species of animals used or killed in experiments the company conducts, funds, or commissions when not required by law.
The resolution comes after PETA separately purchased stock in Mondelēz to formally encourage the snack maker to stop subjecting animals to cruel and pointless, curiosity-driven experiments.
PETA Launches Horror-Themed Video Exposing Oreo’s Gruesome Experiments
October 29, 2025
PETA just released a horrifying new social media recipe video showing how to make Double Stuf Oreos with a twist—crammed full of feces and blood to give people a taste of what mice have endured in laboratory tests, thanks to Oreo’s parent company, Mondelēz International. The video urges Mondelēz to ban all experiments on animals and adopt modern, animal-free research methods.
Mondelēz Dodges PETA’s Shareholder Question on Animal Testing
May 21, 2025
A PETA representative asked a critical question during Mondelēz International’s annual shareholder meeting:
Mondelēz International is facing backlash for funding animal testing not required by law, involving force-feeding obese women’s feces to mice; giving rats chips, crackers, and candies; and killing and dissecting the animals. Mondelēz is misleading consumers by claiming it “does not test products on animals,” but its animal testing policy allows funding of such tests as “nutritional science.” To ease reputational or brand risk and support the best science, will Mondelēz ban all animal testing unless explicitly required by law, as one of Mondelēz’s main competitors, Ferrero International, did?
But the company dodged. Darren O’Brien, Mondelēz’s Chief Corporate & Government Affairs Officer, read only the first paragraph of the company’s animal testing policy, ignoring the second paragraph that allows vague “nutritional science” experiments on animals. This evasive and dishonest response is as appalling as the tests themselves. PETA demands Mondelēz close the loophole and adopt a clear ban on animal testing.
PETA Buys Stock in Oreo Maker to Push Company Away From Animal Testing
May 20, 2025
PETA is taking the fight against cruel and deadly experiments on animals funded by Mondelēz International—maker of popular snack brands including Oreo, Ritz, and Triscuit—directly to its boardroom by purchasing shares of the publicly traded company. The move will allow PETA to attend Mondelēz’s shareholder meetings, submit resolutions, and speak directly with company leadership about ending funding for pointless junk-food tests on animals, which have included force-feeding feces from obese women to mice.
Oreo-Maker’s $10 Million Lesson in Honesty
February 27, 2025
Mondelēz International is paying a steep price for misleading consumers—agreeing to a $10 million settlement after falsely marketing its crackers as “100% whole grain.” If the company is willing to deceive the public about what’s in its products, imagine what else it’s hiding. As PETA Vice President Shalin Gala put it:
Paying a hefty $10 million to cover its tracks for deceptive claims on crackers strips bare any façade that Mondelēz International, maker of Oreo cookies, is committed to responsible stewardship or ethical standards. Since the company clearly will not voluntarily tell consumers the truth, PETA will: Mondelēz refuses to stop funding cruel experiments in which animals have been poisoned, force-fed human feces, and killed for unnecessary food tests, despite numerous requests from PETA and nearly 55,000 of our supporters. If Mondelēz wants to earn back customers’ trust, ending its support for ghastly animal torment and joining PETA’s Eat Without Experiments program would be a good start.
