New York -- There will be no sequined costume for Olympic icon Tai Babilonia on Tuesday--in fact, there will be no costume at all. The champion figure skater will bare all on the famed ice-skating rink at Rockefeller Plaza as part of PETA's iconic "Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" campaign. Babilonia is joining PETA to encourage shoppers to cross fur off their Black Friday shopping lists.
When: Tuesday, November 24, 12 noon
Where: Rockefeller Plaza ice-skating rink, Fifth Avenue (between 49th and 50th streets), New York
"Just because it's cold outside doesn't mean we should be cold inside," says Babilonia. "There are many more warm things to wear nowadays than fur."
Every year, millions of animals are drowned, beaten to death, strangled, gassed, electrocuted, and even skinned alive in order to produce fur coats, collars, and cuffs.
Babilonia joins a long list of athletes and other celebrities--such as actor Eva Mendes, Dancing With the Stars' Karina Smirnoff, and Atlanta Falcon Tony Gonzalez and his wife, October--who have united with PETA to take a stand against fur.
