Sitting together in bed next to the tagline "Give Peas a Chance," Corey Feldman, the star of A&E's The Two Coreys, and his wife, Playboy model Susie Feldman, star in a brand-new pro-vegetarian ad for PETA. A tribute to the iconic "Give Peace a Chance" image of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, the ad is set to debut just as Susie's hot pictorial in the August issue of Playboy hits newsstands on July 18. The retro black-and-white PETA ad was shot by renowned celebrity photographer Christopher Ameruoso.
"Susie and I choose the vegetarian way of life because for us, there really is no other choice," says Corey. "We must evolve as a race and as a planet, and evolution includes learning and changing from our mistakes. We will never truly grow until we as a whole come to the realization that all beings on this earth should be treated with love and respect."
Susie and Corey know that every vegetarian saves the lives of more than 100 animals each year. And with everyone jumping on the "green" bandwagon these days, there's something that everyone should know: It's nearly impossible to be eco-friendly if meat is a part of your diet. A 2006 United Nations report found that raising and killing animals for food causes more greenhouse-gas emissions than all the cars, trucks, ships, and planes in the world combined. The report concluded that the meat industry is "one of the ... most significant contributors to the most serious environmental problems." Plus, vegetarians are, on average, healthier and trimmer than meat-eaters. One look at Susie's spread in Playboy will erase any doubts about whether a vegetarian diet does a body good.
The Feldmans are long time vegetarians, and are joined by a growing list of celebrities who have kicked the meat habit, including Pamela Anderson, Alec Baldwin, Kristen Bell, James Cromwell, Tobey Maguire, Alyssa Milano, Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Ian McKellen, Joaquin Phoenix, Natalie Portman, Alicia Silverstone, Russell Simmons, Shania Twain, and Carrie Underwood.
