Montreal Canadiens’ Bruiser Bashes Furriers

Written by PETA | May 4, 2009

The Montreal Canadiens’ star enforcer, Georges Laraque, is brawny and brainy. He’s vegetarian and steers clear of pigs, chickens, and other commonly consumed animals, a decision he made after seeing the animal-friendly feature film Earthlings. Not only that, but he teamed up with dozens of members of Concordia Animal Rights Association (CARA) this weekend to protest outside the North American Fur & Fashion Exposition of Montreal.

CTV News (CFCF), CJAD radio, and Montreal Mirror lined up to talk to the hockey star about the notoriously cruel fur industry.
George Laraque
Georges needed our PETA Logo tee in size XXL to cover all those muscles!

Brien Comerford wrote “I love and respect animal life…but don’t find it necessary to avoid killing and death. City people are over sensitized from living in a plastic sanitized world free from anything we don’t like” Brien If you actually loved respected animals you would want to protect them from cruelty. And if we lived in a plastic sanitized world FREE from things we don’t like why are we out fighting to end those very things?! Awesome to read about Georges!!

I think everyone or any person who buyswears fur garments even fur trim should have a picture of this poster.. stuck on the back of or onto whatever they’re wearing.. this is the reality of the cruelty and suffering they are supporting and paying towards.. as we know CHina is the biggest fur production base and fur exporterproducer in the whole world.. it HAS TO STOP!!! all fur garments even those produce from Europe or elsewhere.. it’s a dispicable and cruel trade!! it really is..

I love and respect animal life humans included but don’t find it necessary to avoid killing and death. City people are over sensitized from living in a plastic sanitized world free from anything we don’t like.

George Laraque is arguably the greatest fighter in NHL History. He usually fights to protect teamates. He rarely instigates a fight and if he hurts a fellow combatant he does not give him further harm. He’s known as one of the nicest people in Hockey and he was loved in Edmonton. Great to read about his compassion for animals.
