Who Is the Cutest?

Written by PETA | November 6, 2007

You heard me. We needed to know who was the cutest vegetarian child in the world, and thus began a painstaking, epic search throughout the land for the most adorable—but also compassionate re: animals—young lads and lasses that have been produced in the last 10 odd years of human procreation. Our quest for the World’s Cutest Vegetarian finally came to an end when we happened upon young Caitlin Rosendorn of Bloomington, Illinois, and her male counterpart, the undeniably adorable Ian Kaminski of North Syracuse, New York, both of whom beat out a very tough field of extremely lovable little kiddies. So without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the winners of this year’s World’s Cutest Vegetarian Kids contest—you can learn more about them at PETAKids.com. Out of sheer laziness, I’ve copied these bios from the text written by my good friend Patricia Trostle who runs our PETA Kids department.

Ian_Kaminski.jpgSeven-year-old Ian Kaminski of North Syracuse, New York, is a proud vegetarian who never misses the chance to tell others what’s wrong with eating meat. Ian’s mom, Christina, tells us he’s so compassionate that he knows he shouldn’t even kill bugs and that after finding destroyed bird nests on the ground, he discourages his friends from climbing trees in order to protect other nests.

Caitlin_Rosendorn.jpgCaitlin Rosendorn loves Tofurky sandwiches and Morningstar Farms corn dogs, and when asked about being a vegetarian, Caitlin lets others know that she loves animals and doesn’t want to eat them. Not only does this little lady with a heart of gold have a great sense of style—just look at that ensemble!—she also has great taste in music and loves female-fronted bands like Rainer Maria and Rilo Kiley.

I seriously can’t get over the fact that this young lady is way into Rainer Maria. Not only is she precocious enough to have worked out the practical ethics of meat consumption for herself, but she already has the music taste of a disaffected Brooklyn scenester at the tender age of 6. I love it.

Congratulations, Caitlin and Ian! It’s not always easy to make a compassionate choice like going vegetarian when a lot of your classmates are doing something else, but it’s impressive as hell, and it’s something that you’ll never regret.

If I’m not mistaken it was the year 2005 B.C. when Pythagorus ancient philosopher and antiflesh eater made this statement below which has been the obvious truth throughout the ages and this is the year 2007 A.D.BCE that we are in the midst of worldwide terrorismwar “As long as man continues to be ruthless destroyers of lower living beings he will never know health or peace. For as long as men massacre animals they will kill each other. Indeed he who sows the seed of murder and pain cannot reap joy and love.”

  • Caboose (Combine Slayer) says:

Ariel If killing is so wrong then call Native Americans evil for killing animals to eat.

  • Ariel says:

To say that we shouldn’t bother to stop killing is an having apathetic attitude towards it. Killing causes great sorrows contributes to lack of world peace and would cause more unimaginable violence would cause uncontrollable lawlessness and ultimately would be the destruction of society. Therefore that is why we have laws for the purpose of penalties for killing. No wars are justifiable because of killing. And since not all of us can be police officers who valiantly put themselves in harm’s way to try to keep social peace and politicians not including those who encourage wars as ar’s activists we do our best at the grassroots level to try to stop the killing of animals which is a direct effect of mankind’s lust for killing. IF mankind could only realize that killing innocent beings the animals then that would be start of admitting that ALL killing is wrong. The way it stands in the past and the present mankind finds purposes for killing be it murders wars and animals. So we as ar’s activists are doing our best to bring to the public’s awareness that we have a voice to protest killing as well as bodily doing something about it. It all relates. And so there is a deeper meaning about ar’s activism that too many people unfortunately fail to understand or even try to understand and therefore by opposing it they are actually contributing to the very same world conditions that are destructive to mankind.

Ana Never mentioned violence. Just abuse. I dont know why you bother anyway since abuse and other problems are impossible to fully get rid of just minimize. The only instant kill bullet is from the Golden Gun. Dont bother trying to stop killing since it always happens. Just because you talk about weaponry doesnt make you insane. If you believe that go get your meds from the White House or listen to Jackass Thompson

  • Ana says:

Caboose Bullets do not instantly kill killing with bullets is still violence and is painful. Now go take your meds you’re pathetic.

  • Caboose (neutral, blue army. Blood Gulch Outpost Alpha) says:

Ana To kill quickly and to minimize abuse a bullet would suffice instead of a throat slit blugeon or grinder. Caboose is not psychotic.

  • Ana says:

There is always abuse and violence when killing. There is no “nice” way to kill anyone.

  • Caboose (neutral, blue army. Blood Gulch Outpost Alpha) says:

So kelly if abuse was phased out would it be okay to eat meat in moderation?!

  • Kelly says:

Watch “Meet your Meat” and you may rethink you comment about eating meat in moderation. Animals are being tortured and abused for that “good” taste.

  • Judith, Freedom Fighter says:

    Ariel excellent and profound post.

  • Caboose (neutral, blue army. Blood Gulch Outpost Alpha) says:

Meats taste good and can be healty in moderation combined with greens and maybe some tofu if you really want to spice it up

  • Ariel says:

Love for animals is not particularly the point of ar’s activism. It’s about seeking freedoms and justice for the innocent living beings who are enslaved and subjected to mankind’s greed cruelties insensitivies and atrocities speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves. To be involved in ar’s activism one doesn’t have to necessarily love animals but for anyone who has such STRONG convictions for justice that they put their efforts into ar’s activism an area that is in much need to eliminate the unjustifiable archaic tortures and confinement of the helpless innocent lives who have feelings. For anyone to say they love animals and then ignore the horrors of what they endure just to end up as hisher mealis actually conveniently ignoring pain and suffering. So there is no “love” there for what they choose not to know or admit not even “like” or a sense of justice for those whose cries are not relieved until their deaths BORN TO BE TORTURED AND DIE! There are plenty of food sources for proteins other than meat without having any loss of protein. So that is an unjustifiable excuse.

Melinda You have done a fantastic job. You have a wonderful daughter.

My Govt theory will bring an end to groups like PETA. Because we wouldnt need you since we would be accomplishing some of your goals abuse and such but with actual Govt power!

  • Brian Luznak Down With The MD's says:

    Keep up the compassion kids!!!

  • Mike Quinoa says:

Samara There have been many successful vegetarian and vegan bodybuilders and athletes. If you eat the right foods and sufficient calories protein is not an issue. There are plenty of good resources on the internet to help you if you want to go veg goveg.com etc.. Just remember where the animals you eat get their protein from.

  • Ann says:

Posted by Amanda November 6 2007 0739 PM i love animals too but im not going to lose protens and stop eating meat. Do a little research and learn about it. You DO NOT need meat to get protein. You can even have an all natural organic vegan or vegetarian diet and get plenty of protein.

That’s great! I wish I had that kind of devotion when I was her age. I tried to be vegitarian when I was younger but I couldn’t do it. Now I’m fifteen and have been a solid vegitarian for over three years!

Beautiful children with beautiful hearts and souls. Let us hope that these are the kind of people who shall be our leaders someday. My grandson still eats fish but he’s almost there.

  • Carla says:

Making a choice in ones’ young life deciding not to eat meat is very difficult in this day and age where going to McDonald’s is as easy as going to school. But we must not forget as a society the sufferings around the world that happen in the everyday lives of animals used for human consumpution and having that compassionate life decission not to eat them! Thankyou to all the wonderful and compassionate young and old humanbeings in this day and age for making that life changing choice to not eat meat And sparing the sufferings of our animal companions!
