Bob Harper

Seriously, all the cool kids are going vegetarian these days—and with great results. Just as our friend Mike White did, trainer Bob Harper from The Biggest Loser went vegetarian for his health—and his cholesterol count dropped 100 points.

You heard that right: 100 points!

Over at Ecorazzi, they’re sayin’ Bob went vegetarian after reading Skinny Bitch. I really should start lending my copy to more people.

Skinny Bitch started me on my journey. After reading it on March 29, 2009 I have never put another piece of meat in my mouth or my children’s mouths. You should also read the China Study. It will change your life!

  • Cathy says:

I just recently joined a gym and my trainer along with the guy who signed me up keeps going on about how my muscles won’t be able to repair themselves properly because as a veg I am not getting enough protien. It’s amazing how strong this protien myth is! I have decided to just tell him that I promise to not eat junk or processed foods and that I will handle my nutritional needs. I just want him to help me work out. Hopefully that works! If not I can just steer him here!

  • Michelle says:

I went vegan after reading Skinny Bitch. It was the best thing I have ever done. I couldn’t continue to support animal curelty anymore. And as a benefit I have lost weight and have become a better runner. Hopefully my family and friends will follow my example.

Look at your teeth Bob. Those are the eating implements of an omnivore.

Made the switch to become a vegetarian 2 years ago and decided less than a year ago to go vegan. The smell of meat on a grill turns my stomach. Not missing meat one bit!

  • Melinda says:

Awesome job! I hope more people do the same the best thing I ever did!

  • Brenda says:

Congratulations! I went vegetarian 20 yrs. ago and would never go back to eating meat. Out bodies are meant to be more than a vessel for dead animals.

  • sheralee says:

Awesome!!! I love Bob and I am so glad to see that he has gone veggie. I think he is a great mentor and he will be a great mentor for all those new veggies out there.

  • Julia Allison says:

It is best to be vegan and to abolish the use of animals as our property forever. I went vegan afte reading Prof Falicione’s books on the abolitionist movement. I dont miss any food.

  • Heather says:

If for no other reason do it for your health. My dad cut his triglycerides in half and dropped 80 points off of his bad cholesterol after going vegan for only 6 months. This works friends and the animals need you to live a long healthy life! GoVeg.com is a great place to start.

Great news I think this is awesome news to teach millions and millions to go vegetarian it is the right thing to do in life.

Hey Helen. Vick needed gone after and should still be monitored very closely. That kind of pathology doesn’t just disappear. PETA steps in where other folks fear to tread. Good for them. This post IS addressing the killing of horses in Florida. Those horses are being killed for thier MEAT. Immigrants pay big money for horse meat which they can buy freely in other countries. The point to address is shutting down the black market for the meat and part of the way to do that is to make people see that eating meat of ANY kind is not good for you or the animals. It’s all connected……

Way to go! That’s a great leader.

  • Ashley says:

I’ve always been a Jillian girl but I’m definitely switching teams.

  • Renee says:

That’s great Bob I read “Skinny Bitch” and it’s a very powerful book.

  • ced says:

I don’t appreciate the way you went after Vick I want to see you go after the people in Florida for killing the horses

  • Helen Walker says:

I too went vegetarian after ready “Skinny Bitch”. Its been over a year now and its one of the best decisions I have made in my life

  • Tara says:

I also went vegetarian a year ago and havent looked back. I feel so much better and dont have to worry about harming animals to feed myself. Even my kids enjoy veggie meals!

  • Chris says:

That is sooooo cool. I hope this will show other people that you can be physical strong without meat. I can’t believe how many “fitness” books talk about how the protein from meat is better than soy or beans.

  • Tamra says:

That is awesome!! You know they were doing ads for milk during the Biggest Loser and telling people they should drink 3 glasses a day barf……

  • Matt Greenwood says:

We’re gettin somewhere!! If only more people didn’t follow his lead! Good Going Bob.
