Yet Another Venue Has Rejected Garden Bros. Circus
High praise is due for this venue, which has rejected Garden Bros. Circus and its animal-exploiting performances.
Management for the Danbury Sports Dome has officially announced that the venue will not host previously anticipated Garden Bros. Circus shows. The circus had several potential shows in April on the books, but the venue canceled them after learning that it shadily began promoting and selling tickets without consent.
PETA has sent some delicious elephant-shaped vegan chocolates to Danbury Sports Dome’s management as a thank-you for deciding not to host the cruel circus.
Garden Bros. and Its Partners Are Notorious for Abusing Animals
With the rap sheet that Garden Bros. has, it’s no wonder that venues have decided to pull out of any dealings with it.
A whistleblower reported that Zachary Garden, the circus’s manager, habitually beats animals, withholds food from them, and has refused to provide injured and dying animals with adequate veterinary care. In one instance, he reportedly struck a zebra with a 3-foot-long stick with a blunt metal end “with such force that the zebra fell to his front knees and then fell over sideways.”
Garden Bros. leases the elephant act in its shows from the notorious Carson & Barnes Circus, which paid a $16,000 fine last year to settle a lawsuit brought under the federal Animal Welfare Act related to an incident in which three elephants escaped from a circus and ran amok, which PETA notes could have killed someone.
Carson & Barnes has also been cited for failing to keep proper documentation of the care and treatment of a pygmy hippo who was found with her spine and hip bones protruding as well as of an elephant who had lost weight at an alarming rate for months. Both animals ultimately died.
You Can Help Keep Garden Bros. Off the Road
More and more venues are rejecting wild-animal acts, and the Danbury Sports Dome has done the right thing by joining them.
Never attend a circus that uses animals. Circuses like Garden Bros. force living beings to perform tricks that are uncomfortable, pointless, and even painful. Exhibitors keep animals chained and drag them across the country, denying them everything that’s natural and important to them.
