Who Runs the World? Vegan Girls! Like Beyoncé, Miley, and Ariana
Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus, and Ariana Grande seem to have it all figured out—unstoppable careers, close-knit families, killer looks, and enviable confidence. So how do these paragons of girl power do it? And how can the rest of us unleash our inner Sasha Fierce?
For these three, being bold, brazen, and beautiful starts with the basics: You have to love yourself enough to take good care of yourself. That’s why Beyoncé, Miley, and Ariana are meat- and dairy-free.
Beyoncé nearly broke the Internet with her vegan announcement on Good Morning America, and longtime animal advocate Miley wanted to be an example for others. Ariana explained, “I love animals more than I love most people, not kidding. But I am a firm believer in eating a full plant-based, whole food diet that can expand your life length and make you an all-around happier person.” Her chart-topping hit “Break Free” could describe how she parted ways with meat:
This is the part when I say I don’t want ya.
I’m stronger than I’ve been before.
This is the part when I break free
‘Cause I can’t resist it no more.
For them, it seems, eating vegan isn’t about keeping a toned tummy (although that’s a nice fringe benefit). It’s about filling your body with the nutrient-packed foods that it needs for optimal performance, whether that’s onstage or in the boardroom, the gym, or the elementary school carpool lane.
And let’s not forget: Girls just wanna have funds. Whole grains, dry beans, and fresh fruits and vegetables are some of the least expensive foods out there. So we can save our money for a confidence-boosting power outfit or an even bigger confidence-boosting investment portfolio.
Despite what women have long been told, Beyoncé, Miley, and Ariana are giving us permission to take care of ourselves first. Your best you is better for your job and family, too.
Who runs the world? We do.
