While you were watching that video, tens of thousands of baby animals continue to be subjected to invasive, cruel, and terrifying experiments, including being torn away from their mothers, poisoned, infected with lethal diseases, surgically crippled, and more. In taxpayer-funded experiments that have been conducted for more than 30 years by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), baby monkeys have been isolated, addicted to alcohol, and intentionally frightened out of their wits. Despite condemnation from experts like Dr. Jane Goodall, those experiments continue to this day.
We’re not sure exactly how many baby animals are subjected to crude and cruel experiments, because the animals most commonly used in laboratories—rats and mice—are exempt from the Animal Welfare Act and don’t have to be reported. They literally do not count, at least not as far as the federal government is concerned.
What You Can Do
As I was watching this video, the sounds of the shrieking and crying baby animals woke my dog out of a deep sleep and sent him running from room to room to try to find out who was in distress and needed help. Do you have as much compassion as my dog? Write to NIH and demand that it stop these barbaric experiments on helpless babies.
