‘Listen Up!’ Sam Asghari Challenges Westminster to Ban Ear Mutilations From Dog Show
Actor and model Sam Asghari wouldn’t dream of cutting the ears of his beloved Doberman, Porsha—because, unlike the flashy sports car, his pup Porsha isn’t an accessory. She’s family. That’s why, ahead of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, he sent a letter to Kennel Club President Donald Sturz calling on him to ban dogs with cropped ears from the event.
Asghari and Porsha drove home the message about the dangers of ear cropping—a painful, unnecessary procedure often performed on Dobermans, Great Danes, Schnauzers, pit bulls, and other breeds purely for “looks”—in PETA’s new campaign. Check it out now:
As Asghari explains, ear cropping can cause infections and scarring—and it strips dogs of their natural ways of communicating and expression, including joy, affection, and trust. “Porsha’s natural ears help so much to define her personality,” he says.
