Online Retailer Young Living Bans Mink Oil

World leader in essential oils and wellness solutions Young Living has ended its use of mink oil after learning from PETA that the ingredient is obtained from fat removed from the pelts of animals who were killed by the fur industry. In thanks, PETA has sent the compassionate company a box of delicious vegan chocolates.

“PETA knows that today, people want to buy from companies that share their values, and using mink oil isn’t something kind shoppers would support,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “Young Living’s decision shows that consumers and companies are rejecting the cruel fur industry, which keeps minks and other animals inside barren cages before bludgeoning, electroshocking, or skinning them alive.”

Minks raised and killed on fur farms are forced to live in filthy, cramped wire cages and are denied any opportunity to express natural behavior, such as swimming and roaming. Minks are often seen bobbing their heads and pacing—neurotic, repetitive behavior that signifies severe psychological distress.
