Lion Cub Tries to Attack Toddler During Live TV Broadcast
A young lion, restrained only by a mesh collar and leash, lies anxiously on the floor of the set of a TV show as handlers are interviewed next to a woman and her young daughter. From the very beginning of the clip, the child is visibly afraid. Within seconds, the lion cub lunges and grabs onto the little girl, who screams in fear. Luckily, she’s left physically unharmed, albeit very upset.
Lions don’t belong on the sets of TV programs, and this child should have never been put in such a dangerous situation.
Lions, tigers, and other big cats used in film and TV are deprived of space in which to run and all semblance of their natural environment. They are often confined to extremely small cages, and abusive training methods are typically used to suppress the instincts that make them so dangerous to humans, including their predatory instinct to hunt. Big cats are known to have been trained through food deprivation, fear, and punishment with whips.
