‘Girl Meets World’ Throws Wool out the Window

It was “girl meets wool” in last Friday’s episode of Disney’s Girl Meets World.

Rowan Blanchard and Sabrina Carpenter

When Riley Mathews’ best friend, Maya, shows her a picture of a half-sheared sheep, Riley exclaims, “I don’t want to live in a world like this!” And when Maya points out that Riley is wearing a wool sweater, Riley tosses wool out the window—literally.

Even though Disney didn’t show anything nearly as disturbing as what PETA uncovered during our eyewitness video exposés of sheep ranches in the U.S. and shearing sheds in Australia, which would be too graphic for children, the message was the same: Sheep suffer in the wool industry, and we should all toss wool out the window.
