She’s Not Your Average Auntie! Carol Leifer Blasts American Kennel Club for Promoting Suffering Dog Breeds in New PETA Videos

Breeding dogs to suffer is no joke. That’s why comedy legend Carol Leifer is barking back as the American Kennel Club (AKC) releases its annual list of “Most Popular Dog Breeds.” In two new PETA videos, Leifer—the iconic comic known for her work on Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Hacks, and Saturday Night Live—is calling out the AKC for continuing to promote French bulldogs, pugs, English bulldogs, and other breathing-impaired breeds (BIBs) many of whom spend their lives struggling to breathe and are likely to suffer from a lifetime of chronic health issues.

Leifer opens the PSA with a classic performance, transforming into your “two-pack-a-day Aunt Doris”—a mumu-wearing wisecrack who struggles to blow up an air mattress, mimicking the painful, labored breathing of flat-faced dogs. Get a glimpse of her hilarious antics:

All of us can help protect breathing-impaired dogs from being bred to suffer by never buying a breathing-impaired dog (or any dog, for that matter) from a breeder or a pet store.
