May the Fourth be with… rebel chickens? In a new AI LEGO meme video debuting on PETA’s popular social media platforms for Star Wars Day, chickens launch a daring raid on a Death Star conference room commanded by “General Cane”—a take on Raising Cane’s mascot—freeing their fellow birds and engaging in a lightsaber battle that ends with their dramatic escape.

“Chickens don’t deserve a death sentence for a fast-food fix,” says PETA Founder Ingrid Newkirk. “In real life, compassionate humans are their only hope, and so PETA urges everyone to join the rebellion against cruelty by going vegan this Star Wars Day and into the future.”
Chickens are social learners who watch and emulate one another. They form strong bonds, dream when they sleep, and worry about the future, just as humans do—but in the meat industry, chickens are confined by the tens of thousands to severely crowded, filthy sheds and bred to grow such unnaturally large upper bodies that their legs often become crippled under the weight. At slaughterhouses, mechanized blades slit their throats—often while they’re still conscious—and many are scalded to death in de-feathering tanks. PETA points out that Raising Cane’s is responsible for the deaths of countless birds each year—all of whom are killed at just six weeks old.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—points out that when it comes to the ability to feel pain, hunger, and thirst, a chicken is a dog is a boy. PETA’s free vegan starter kit can help those looking to make the switch. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow PETA on X, Facebook, or Instagram.
