“Heaven Sent! Vegan Eggs!” That’s the message PETA will deliver—along with cartons of ready-to-cook JUST Eggs—vegan ones—to Waffle House, where Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) official Gregg Phillips says he was teleported. PETA will give away free cartons of JUST Egg to staff and customers, and is also writing to Waffle House CEO, Joe Rogers III, asking him to add the pourable, savory, vegan scramble to the menu at the Rome location and all others nationwide.

“PETA will offer a surprising new experience to Waffle House diners by delivering delicious vegan eggs that are kind to chickens, and cholesterol-free,” says PETA President Tracy Reiman. “PETA is eager to give everyone at Waffle House a taste of how easy it is to leave hens in peace, no paranormal intervention required.”

Why: Chickens form complex social structures, dream when they sleep, and worry about the future, just as humans do. As PETA shares in its new white paper, all eggs, even those labeled “cage‑free,” inflict immense cruelty on mother hens and chicks—and in some cases, cage-free systems can even cause more suffering. At slaughterhouses, mechanized blades slit the birds’ throats—often while they’re still conscious—and many are scalded to death in de-feathering tanks.

PETA offers a free vegan starter kit for anyone thinking of making the switch, and JUST Egg offers a coupon to help people transition away from chicken eggs.
