Shoppers in downtown Albuquerque will be met with a startling sight on Tuesday, as a group of PETA supporters will lay out a lavish Thanksgiving spread at the intersection of Central Avenue and 5th Street with a “roasted dog” as the centerpiece. The disturbing display will point out to potential turkey-eaters that Tom and Toto are the same in all the ways that matter—and neither wants to be carved up for a meal.

“Turkeys bond with their flockmates just like dogs and purr to their chicks like cats, but in the meat industry they’re crammed into filthy sheds and slaughtered at only a few months old,” says PETA President Tracy Reiman. “PETA urges people to show compassion by leaving all animals off their plates this holiday and beyond, and our free ThanksVegan guide can help.”

Where: 505 Central Food Hall – 499 Central Ave SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102, at the intersection of Central Avenue and 5th Street SW
