Simply the Zest! Orlando Bakery Wins Big in PETA’s Best Vegan Key Lime Pie Awards

Ahead of Pi Day (March 14), PETA has calculated the best vegan Key lime pies from around the Sunshine State with its first-ever Kind Lime Pie awards—and Central Florida hotspot Valhalla Bakery has nabbed a spot on the list. The fully vegan bakery—with locations in Orlando and St. Petersburg—offers a tantalizing Key lime pie in both mini and full sizes, featuring a bright, creamy citrus filling tucked into a luscious graham cracker crust, topped with fluffy swirls of dairy-free whipped cream and a lime wedge garnish.

“Valhalla Bakery is serving up a Key lime pie worthy of the gods—bold in flavor and made without using a single egg or splash of milk,” says PETA President Tracy Reiman. “Every winner on PETA’s list proves that vegan Key lime pies can conquer any craving and are a true triumph for taste buds and animals alike.”

PETA notes that in addition to being a treat for the taste buds, vegan desserts are kind to mother cows, whose calves are taken away from them on dairy farms, and to mother hens, who are caged and used as egg-producing machines until their bodies give out and they’re sent to slaughter. PETA’s free vegan starter kit can help those looking to make the switch.

Valhalla Bakery will receive a framed award certificate from PETA, along with bragging rights. Other winners on PETA’s list include Christopher’s Kitchen in West Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens, Stephanie’s Vegan Bakery + Cafe in Fort Lauderdale, Moondog Cafe & Bakery in Key West, and Green Zebra Cafe in Sarasota.

Valhalla Bakery is located at 5565 Old Cheney Hwy in Orlando and 2444 Central Ave. in St. Petersburg. The Orlando location is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday, and the St. Petersburg location is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
