Top-tier cakes for soy-mates! In time for peak wedding season, PETA is naming its picks for the nation’s ten best “Bakeries That Take the Cake”—and Atlanta’s own Flour + Time nabbed a spot for creating captivating and craveable wedding cakes that are egg- and dairy-free and perfect for compassionate couples planning plant-powered nuptials.
Owned by husband-and-wife team Michael and Leah Bajalia, Flour + Time is an all-vegan bakery located in West Midtown that offers an assortment of big flavors for the Big Day, including the best-selling vanilla cake with lemon curd filling and vanilla buttercream and a sweet and tangy red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting.
“Flour + Time is baking up beautiful wedding cakes without a crumb of cruelty to chickens or cows,” says PETA President Ingrid Newkirk. “Every winner on PETA’s list is a perfect match for couples committed to helping all animals live happily ever after.”
Other winners on PETA’s list include (in no particular order) Hazel & Jade in San Diego; cake.vegan bakery in Dover, New Hampshire; Plant Baked by Sarah in Baltimore; Happy Chicks Bakery in Cincinnati; P.S. & Co. in Philadelphia; The Cake Bar in Denver; Botanical Bakeshop in Milan, Michigan; James Street Cakes in Bellingham, Washington; and Valhalla Bakery, with locations in Orlando and St. Petersburg, Florida.
Each winner will receive a framed certificate from PETA along with bragging rights.
PETA notes that studies show that Gen Z prioritizes conscientious menus and sustainability in their wedding planning. Every person who goes vegan saves the lives of nearly 200 animals each year. PETA’s free vegan starter kit can help those looking to make the switch.
Flour + Time is located at 1133 Huff Road NW, Suite F, Atlanta, and is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. (closed on Tuesday) and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—points out thatEvery Animal Is Someone and offers free Empathy Kits for people who need a lesson in kindness. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow PETA on X, Facebook, or Instagram.
