St. Louis, Mo. – A trio of nude PETA members—covered only by a banner proclaiming, “We’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Wool”—will take to the streets on Tuesday in light of PETA’s recent international exposé that revealed that gentle sheep were punched in the face, jabbed with electric clippers, slammed into the floor, and stomped on by impatient wool industry workers. Some sheep even died from the abuse, including one whose neck was twisted.

When:             Tuesday, February 3, 12 p.m.

Where:           Northeast corner of Olive and N. Ninth streets, St. Louis

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear”—is encouraging shoppers to take a stand against the violent industry by dropping wool this winter.

“Most shoppers would be appalled to learn that every wool sweater is the product of the abuse of vulnerable, sensitive sheep,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “With so many warm, luxurious, and cruelty-free fabrics available, PETA is calling on consumers everywhere to leave wool on the rack this winter.”
