PETA ‘Dinos’ at Pres. Trump’s Michigan Motorcade to Ask for Cut to Outdated, Dead-End Monkey Research

As President Trump arrives at his rally in Macomb County on Tuesday to mark his first 100 days in office, a pair of gigantic PETA “dinosaurs” will greet him with an important message: “President Trump: $ave Million$” by stomping out wasteful and abusive tests on monkeys at the seven federally-funded National Primate Research Centers.

For six decades, the primate centers have killed hundreds of thousands of monkeys while siphoning billions of taxpayer dollars for experiments that consistently fail to deliver safe and effective vaccines or cures. Bloated and inefficient, they are among the worst drains on taxpayer-funded research, inflating National Institutes of Health grants with outrageous indirect costs. PETA scientists have developed a practical roadmap—Research Modernization Now—to phase out experiments on animals and implement modern, human-relevant research methods.

“The National Primate Research Centers are lumbering relics— killing monkeys and torching billions in federal funding on dead-end experiments that hold back real progress,” says PETA Senior Vice President Kathy Guillermo. “PETA urges President Trump to close these prehistoric sites and redirect taxpayer money to state-of-the-art research that offers real hope for patients.”
