Before kicking off a nationwide tour with a performance in their hometown of Phoenix on May 17, sparkly pop-rock duo Diva Bleach is striking a chord in a new campaign for peta2, part of PETA’s youth division, urging everyone to help make it stop—the homeless animal crisis, that is—by always adopting and never buying animals from pet shops or breeders.
The band, made up of vocalist Sydney Roten and guitarist Brie Ritter, adopted both of their beloved companion animals—and say it’s no secret that breeders have a bad habit of churning out litter after litter of puppies and kittens into a world already bursting at the seams with homeless animals.
“Our companion animals are members of our family—we would never dream of buying a dog or a cat when so many wonderful animals in need flood our nation’s shelters,” the band says.

With millions of homeless and unwanted dogs and cats in the U.S., animal shelters across the country have been overwhelmed for years—and every time someone buys a puppy or a kitten, an animal in a shelter loses a chance at finding a good home. The best way to help dogs and cats is to adopt—and, of course, to always spay and neuter.
“You can make a real-life difference by adopting, never buying from a pet store or breeder,” the band concludes.
Diva Bleachjoins a long list of musicians—including RZA, Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast, Matt and Kim, Fall Out Boy, Weezer, and Manchester Orchestra—who’ve teamed up with peta2 to promote kindness to animals.
peta2—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone and offers young people positive, empowering actions to help animals. For more information, please visit peta2.com or follow peta2 on TikTok or Instagram.
