Because interest in vegan eating is skyrocketing and January is fast becoming known as “Veganuary,” PETA’s “cow” mascot will get in on the action tomorrow by leading a giveaway of protein-packed vegan jerky in partnership with local award-winning indoor dog park Barx Parx.

When:    Wednesday, January 27, 4 p.m.

Where:    Outside Barx Parx, Regal Plaza Suite #115, 8868 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas

“PETA is calling for a New Year’s revolution that starts on our plates with vegan foods,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “By choosing animal-free meals, we can show kindness to animals, our bodies, and the planet we all share.”

Each person who goes vegan saves nearly 200 animals every year; reduces their risk of suffering from heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and cancer; dramatically shrinks their carbon footprint; and helps prevent future pandemics. SARS, swine flu, bird flu, and COVID-19 all stemmed from confining and killing animals for food.

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.
