Naples, Fla. – After U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds tweeted that “America doesn’t run on tofu; it runs on real food,” a PETA tofu mascot in a runner’s outfit will dash to Fifth Avenue S. on Thursday to give out free tasty tofu BBQ sliders. And running on buses throughout the city—where the representative has an office—is PETA’s message “America Does Run on Tofu. Try It Today!”

When:    Thursday, October 7, 12 noon

Where:    The intersection of Fifth Avenue S. and Park Street, Naples

“If Rep. Donalds knew how healthy and tasty tofu is, he’d be sprinting to grab some for lunch,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA’s giveaway is sure to inspire folks to protect animals and their own arteries by choosing real tasty vegan foods.”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview.
