PETA Statement: Hearst Magazines Bans Fur

Today, Hearst Magazines—publisher of Harper’s BazaarElleEsquireSeventeen, and Cosmopolitan—announced that it has banned fur in its editorial and advertising content. The move comes just a month after Vogue publisher Condé Nast announced that it will no longer feature new animal fur in its content. Please see the following statement from PETA President Tracy Reiman:

Hearst may be late to the party but at least it has arrived, and PETA applauds it for adding what is just about the final nail in the fur industry’s coffin. Now that every major fashion magazine has barred fur from its pages, PETA urges them to do the same with wild animal skins taken from terrified animals who should not be killed for an out-of-touch fashion statement.
