Following the news of the passing of Giorgio Armani, please find a statement from PETA U.K. Vice President of Corporate Projects Yvonne Taylor:
Over the years, Giorgio Armani earned numerous accolades – including a PETA Fashion Award for his bold decision to eliminate cruelly produced animal fur from his designs. A towering figure in fashion history, within just a few seasons of his fur ban, most other brands followed suit, transforming industry standards. He also extended his ethical leadership by removing angora wool – fleece torn from fully conscious rabbits – from his collections. PETA calls on Armani Group to honour his legacy by ending the use of wild-animal skins, something the nature-loving “Il Maestro” was reportedly considering before his passing.

“Almost all of us grew up eating meat, wearing leather, and going to circuses and zoos. We never considered the impact of these actions on the animals involved. For whatever reason, you are now asking the question: Why should animals have rights?”
— Ingrid Newkirk, PETA Founder and co-author of Animalkind
