Please see the following statement from PETA Vice President Shalin Gala regarding news that Oreo, made by Mondelēz International, has launched a cookie into the stratosphere to “dunk” in the Milky Way:
Oreo will have to find a galaxy much farther away if it wants to escape the cruelty that its maker, Mondelēz International, is being criticized for funding here on Earth, including paying experimenters to force-feed human feces to animals and kill them in numerous unnecessary food tests under the guise of “nutritional science.” Oreo’s parent company is trailing light-years behind its competitors that have already abandoned such cruel old tests that prove nothing about human consumption of their products. The cookie maker should no longer pay for deadly animal torment and instead should join PETA’s Eat Without Experiments program.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to experiment on”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone and offers free Empathy Kits for people who need a lesson in kindness. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow PETA on X, Facebook, or Instagram.
