Santa Monica, Calif. – Dressed as mermaids, models Lily Easton, Elisha Herbert, and Renee Herbert will partner with PETA on Tuesday to hook tourists at Santa Monica Pier on crispy—and free—vegan fish tacos. Served hot from Sugar Taco, the “pescado” plate, which lets fish keep their fins, features golden-brown tofu fillets, spicy chipotle sauce, pickled cabbage, and fresh cilantro.

When:    Tuesday, August 31, 12 noon

Where:    Intersection of Ocean Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard, Santa Monica

“By standing up for fascinating fish, the Herbert twins and Lily Easton are more than just models—they’re model citizens,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA’s fun-filled and mouthwatering giveaway is sure to net scores of new vegans and persuade people to make a dietary sea change.”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat” and which opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview—notes that many faux-fish options are available today.
