Please see the following statement from PETA Associate Director of Primate Experimentation Campaigns Amy Meyer regarding a judge’s decision to throw out a $3.5 million bond series from the City of Bainbridge after the South Georgia District Attorney argued that the taxpayer money may be used to benefit infrastructure needs of the huge monkey warehouse proposed by Safer Human Medicine, a private, for-profit company:

PETA applauds the South Georgia District Attorney and the judge for applying the law in reaching a fair and impartial decision. PETA continues to stand with the residents of Bainbridge and Decatur County, who see through the City of Bainbridge’s thinly veiled attempt to use taxpayer money to support Safer Human Medicine’s proposed monkey prison. Their diligence at every turn continues to rack up wins to prevent the construction of this colossal warehouse, which brings with it exploitation of animals, potential environmental disaster, and possible spread of disease.
