Please see the following statement from PETA Senior Vice President Kathy Guillermo regarding Sorcerer’s Silver who sustained a bone fracture in the third race at Churchill Downs today and will undergo surgery:
Following 15 fatalities at Churchill Downs in 2024 and the death of Valley of Fire last week, the racing industry can’t even keep the horses safe on Kentucky Derby day. Sorcerer’s Silver was ambulanced off the rain-drenched track and will undergo surgery after only his third race. It’s a bloodbath for these injured, mangled, and dead horses. Anyone watching the races should turn off their TVs now.
