Below, please find a statement from PETA Sr. Vice President Lisa Lange on the death of Robert Redford:
Robert Redford was known for his remarkable screen presence, but PETA will always remember him for his staunch defense of animals and the environment. From using fake fish in his fishing-centric film A River Runs Through It to working to end horse slaughter to banning angora from his Sundance Holdings Group after PETA exposed how the angora industry torments rabbits, Redford used his influence to stand up for animals at every turn. His compassion for the Earth and for all who live on it has left a lasting legacy.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone and offers free Empathy Kits for people who need a lesson in kindness. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow PETA on X, Facebook, or Instagram.
