New York – Fresh off their sold-out tour and debut album release, X Factor superstars Fifth Harmony have teamed up with peta2, PETA’s youth division, for a new ad that proclaims, “Be an Angel for Animals.” And in an accompanying peta2 video spot, the “Worth It” singers point to the many ways we can all earn our halos, from taking proper care of our dogs and cats to choosing to attend animal-free circuses.
“You don’t need wings or a halo to be an ‘angel’ for animals,” says Lauren Jauregui. Camila Cabello adds, “Always adopt—never buy animals from pet stores or breeders. And always spay or neuter.” And Normani Kordei says, “Never leave cats or dogs unattended outside.” Ally Brooke urges everyone to “[s]ay no to circuses that exploit and abuse animals,” and Dinah Jane Hansen encourages, “Keep cruelty out of your closet. Don’t buy clothing with real fur or fur trim.”
Spaying and neutering—and always adopting, never buying—dogs and cats is the best way to cut down on the homeless-animal crisis. By steering clear of circuses that use animals, everyone can help elephants who are kept constantly chained and beaten into performing. And fur-free wardrobes prevent foxes, minks, rabbits, and other animals from being bludgeoned, electrocuted, and even skinned alive on fur farms.
Fifth Harmony join a long list of musicians and other celebrities—including P!nk, Jhené Aiko, Kid Ink, Rachel Crow, Cody Simpson, and many others—who have teamed up with peta2, whose motto states that “animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way.”
