Please see the following statement from PETA Senior Vice President Kathy Guillermo regarding a false and baseless statement from monkey tormentor-for-hire Alpha Genesis, Inc. claiming PETA staff have euthanized animals who could have been placed in loving homes:
Desperate to deflect from its own grotesque cruelty, Alpha Genesis—a company that cages, torments, and kills monkeys for profit, thanks to government funding—has launched a baseless attack on PETA’s animal sheltering services. Let’s be clear: Alpha Genesis rakes in taxpayer dollars to breed and sell primates for painful experiments, while PETA operates the only truly open-admission shelter in its region, providing—at no cost—a peaceful, painless end for animals whose guardians have no other option. Unlike Alpha Genesis, which treats animals as disposable test subjects, PETA takes in those deemed unadoptable due to health or temperament issues—animals other shelters turn away. The truth about PETA’s field and shelter work is in this short video, which everyone should watch. PETA fieldworkers save animals’ lives. Last year we sterilized more than 12,000 dogs and cats for free to prevent homelessness.
Meanwhile, Alpha Genesis breeds, warehouses, and sells primates for painful, invasive, and deadly experiments—condemning intelligent, sensitive monkeys to years of misery before they’re killed in laboratories. The company has been repeatedly exposed for its mistreatment of animals, including documented cases of monkeys suffering and dying under horrific conditions.
PETA’s door is open not only to all animals in need, but to any reporter who wishes to do their due diligence on what we do and why.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to experiment on”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone and offers free Empathy Kits for people who need a lesson in kindness. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow PETA on X, Facebook, or Instagram.
