Atlanta – Please see the following statement from PETA Senior Vice President Kathy Guillermo regarding the decision by Emory University to rename campus spaces and professorships honoring Robert Yerkes:

A primate laboratory by any name is unacceptable. While Emory officials are dumping the Yerkes name from campus, they should also shut down the ongoing atrocity he pioneered—the Yerkes National Primate Research Center. Caging, cutting up, and killing primates is vile and unscientific and should be consigned to history, along with Robert Yerkes’ racism.
