With Jeff Bezos headed into space in a few days, PETA is counting down to its local ad blitz making the point that artery-clogging meat and dairy foods can mean a failure to launch in the bedroom and that we should all grasp the gravity of this situation: The future of humanity could be jeopardized if we don’t eat properly.

“If we Earthlings all went vegan, we’d stop the negative impact of animal-based agriculture on this planet and we wouldn’t need to head out into space,” says PETA President Ingrid Newkirk. “PETA has all the vegan starter kits, recipes, and more needed to help keep America’s rockets ready for liftoff.”

The saturated fat in meat, eggs, and dairy can cause high cholesterol, which leads to plaque buildup and hardening of the arteries, slowing the flow of blood to all the body’s organs, not just the heart. Low-fat vegan meals have been shown to address the physical causes involved in the vast majority of impotence cases, including high cholesterol, obesity, diabetes, prostate cancer or inflammation, and hormonal imbalances. And of course, each person who goes vegan prevents nearly 200 animals every year from enduring daily suffering and a terrifying death.

Because Bezos’ launch date (July 20) is also the anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, PETA also plans to place the ad in Huntsville, Alabama, near the U.S. Space & Rocket Center; in Houston, near the Johnson Space Center; and on Merritt Island, Florida, near the Kennedy Space Center.

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.
