Below, please find a statement from PETA Senior Vice President Daphna Nachminovitch in response to the great news that Bam Bam, the senior dachshund who was stolen from his backyard two months ago, has been reunited with his guardian, Angel Santiago. In addition to the billboard, PETA is sending a “Welcome Home” basket of toys and vegan goodies to Bam Bam and Santiago to wish them well.
PETA is celebrating the news that Bam Bam is safe and sound and at home, and the billboards reminding everyone of our $5,000 reward for Bam Bam’s return will now thank everyone who came together to hand out flyers, contribute to the reward, and pound the pavement in search of this beloved little dog. Working for this reunion brought out the best in the community, and it reminds us all to never be silent, as speaking up when an animal is in danger can save a life.

According to reports, a man and a woman who dropped Bam Bam off at the 16th District police station on Tuesday evening declined to provide further information.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone and offers free Empathy Kits for people who need a lesson in kindness. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow the group on X, Facebook, or Instagram.
