Eggsellent news! American Airlines—the world’s largest airline by daily flights—is piloting a delicious vegan egg scramble on its brunch menu on select cross-country flights beginning October 5. The animal-friendly menu addition is made with the award-winning, plant-powered Just Egg, hash browns, vegan cheese, spinach, corn, and red pepper.
The addition of Just Egg is American Airlines’ latest vegan menu upgrade within the past year. Last fall, the airline added oat milk creamer to its in-flight beverage menu after hearing from PETA and more than 144,000 PETA supporters.

“American Airlines is soaring above the competition with a savory vegan egg dish that’s kind to hens and appeals to conscientious travelers,” says PETA President Tracy Reiman. “PETA urges other airlines to get on board by following American Airlines’ compassionate and business-savvy example.”
Chickens form complex social structures, dream when they sleep, and worry about the future, just as humans do. But hens used for egg production are crammed together inside crowded, filthy sheds where they don’t even have enough room to spread their wings. Once their egg production drops, they’re sent to slaughterhouses, where mechanized blades slit their throats—often while they’re still conscious—and many are scalded to death in de-feathering tanks.
PETA notes that the global vegan egg market reached $1.5 billion in 2022 and is expected to reach $4.5 billion by 2030. PETA’s free vegan starter kit is filled with tips to help anyone looking to make the switch.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone and offers free Empathy Kits for people who need a lesson in kindness. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow PETA on X, Facebook, or Instagram.
