Good, Clean…Animal Advocacy! Comedian Nikki Glaser might love a good human roast, but she never misses the chance to advocate kindness for other animals—and that’s why PETA is honoring her with its first-ever “Stand Up for Animals Award” for International Women’s Day (March 8).

Some of Glaser’s recent actions for PETA include baring all in a campaign urging viewers “Never to Steal Anyone’s Material”—except in this case, material means animals’ wool, skin, feathers, and fur. Glaser also pressed SeaWorld executives at the company’s virtual annual meeting last June, imploring them to “please, for the love of God, stop imprisoning and forcibly impregnating dolphins and whales and sentencing them to a miserable fate…in tiny tragic tanks.” Glaser is a vegan and a guardian to three adopted dogs—and she’s quick to point out the merits of animal adoption over buying from breeders and pet stores.

“Nikki Glaser is bangin’ when it comes to championing a kinder world for exploited animals, from sheep shorn bloody for wool to orcas swimming circles at SeaWorld,” says PETA Senior Vice President Lisa Lange. “PETA is recognizing her for standing up for animals, for eating and wearing vegan, for adopting dogs, and for generally being an all-around superstar for animals.”

PETA points out that the solution to the homeless animal overpopulation crisis in Los Angeles and nationwide is implementing and enforcing strict, mandatory spay-and-neuter laws and for everyone to adopt, not shop. Other ways to follow Glaser’s lead include opting for eco- and animal-friendly vegan materials (PETA’s “How to Wear Vegan” guide can help) and avoiding SeaWorld, where more than 40 orcas and over 500 other dolphins and whales have died in concrete tanks.

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone and offers free Empathy Kits for people who need a lesson in kindness. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow PETA on X, Facebook, or Instagram.
